3 Easy and Delicious Black Bean Burger Recipes
Vegan Black Bean Burger
- ½ cup of oats
- 2 flaxseed eggs (2 Tbsp of ground flaxseeds, 3 Tbsp of water mixed and set aside to thicken)
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1½ tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ medium red onion
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup of sundried tomatoes in oil
- ½ cup of dry breadcrumbs
Step 1: Prepare the Black Beans
Rinse the black beans in a mixing bowl. Drain the water.
Step 2: Blend the Beans
Use a blender to crush the black beans. You can use a fork or masher in the absence of a blender.
Step 3: Prepare the Pattie
Dice the red onion and sundried tomatoes and add them to the blended beans. Add the flax eggs, oats, salt, paprika, cumin, and olive oil into the bowl and mix it all together. Mix in the breadcrumbs. Mold the mixture into patties.
Step 4: Cook the Patties
You can fry the patties in a pan with oil or grill it. Five minutes is the optimal cooking time for each side. Serve it with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes and all the condiments you love!
Spicy Black Bean Burger Recipe
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ Tbsp of ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil
- 1 tsp of chile-garlic sauce (sriracha)
- 16-ounce can of black beans that have been rinsed and drained
- 1 minced jalapeno pepper
- 1 cup of whole kernel corn in a can, drained
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- ½ cup of breadcrumbs
- ½ cup of whole wheat flour
Step 1: Whisk the Ingredients
Whisk the egg, chili powder, cumin, and chile-garlic sauce in a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Mash the Black Beans
In a separate bowl, mash the black beans using a fork, masher, or food processor until it becomes a paste.
Step 3: Prepare the Patties
Add the peppercorn, jalapeno, and garlic into the black bean paste and stir. Mix in the egg and then, the breadcrumbs. Mold into patties.
Step 4: Coat the Patties
Pour the flour into a shallow plate and coat the patties with it to help them keep the shape.
Step 5: Cook the Patties
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat and cook your patties for five minutes on each side.
Smash Burger Black Bean Burger Recipe
- 1 can black beans
- 1/8 cup chopped red onion
- 1 ½ tsp minced fresh jalapenos
- 2 Tbsp Cholula hot sauce
- 1/4 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/8 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 Tbsp ground cumin
- 1 egg
- 1/4 Tbsp garlic seasoning
- 1/4 cup crushed blue corn tortilla chips
- 1/2 cup crushed cheese and garlic croutons
Step 1: Combine the Ingredients
Add chips and croutons to the black beans. Wear a plastic glove and mix them vigorously until they form a solid mass. Form balls and flatten them to make a patty.
Step 2: Refrigerate
Keep the patties in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow moisture accumulation.
Step 3: Cook the Patties
Fry or grill each side for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Storing Instructions: The burger patties can be stored in the refrigerator for four to five days and can be frozen for up to three months. Put a small piece of parchment between each patty to avoid them sticking together. A plastic container or a freezer bag is an ideal container to use for storage.
