Who Is Ariel Garten?

Ariel Garten is the founder of the popular Muse meditation device, a former psychotherapist and a neuroscientist.

Muse is a meditation device that gives you simultaneous feedback of your mental and physical state during meditation. Many people around the world use it.

“We all know meditation is good for you, but the fact is, meditation is really hard to do,” says Ariel Garten. “You sit there; you try to meditate, your mind goes blank, and you don’t know what’s supposed to be happening. We recognized that if we could show people what was going on in their minds during meditation and give them real-time feedback on their mind during meditation, we could teach them what to do, and let them know they’re doing it right.”

6 Tips to Develop Serenity

Focused Attention Meditation

According to Ariel Garten, one of the most basic meditations is “focused attention meditation,” on which the Muse Meditation device was built. In this meditation practice, the main point is to focus on your breathing rather than your thoughts.

When you get a random thought while meditating, try not to follow those thoughts and focus on your breathing. With this practice, you can learn to take your mind off of negative thoughts and scenarios and focus on one neutral thing, which is your breathing. This practice can calm your mind and your body.

Breathing

“Breathing has the power to very quickly change your state of mind, moving you from one of “fight or flight” into “rest and digest,” says Ariel Garten.

Breathing deeply from your stomach is one of the most natural practices. By calming your nerves, breathing deeply can trigger your “rest and digest” process. Breathing deeply from your stomach can tug your vagus nerve, which will slow your heartbeat and help you to relax.

A simple and common practice is to inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds and exhale for 4 seconds.

Gratitude Practice

Gratitude practices can do wonders! Our brains usually focus on the negative things almost immediately, but once you start to practice gratitude, your mind gets trained to perceive positive things before the negative ones.

You can simply look around you and choose 3 things that you are grateful for. It’s a simple way to start this positive process.

Reaching Out

Reaching out to help others can be highly beneficial for your mental health. As we are staying indoors, feeling bored and depressed – we are going through these difficult days together. Almost everyone around the world is experiencing the same thing.

Acts of compassion are selfless acts, but it’s also beneficial for you. Helping someone can improve your mood, your sense of connection, and your sense of control.

Understanding Your Anxiety

Understanding how your body and your mind produce this sense of anxiousness can help you overcome it.

Meditation is a great way to understand your anxiety because it helps both your body and your brain to relax. Many people may not realize this, but calming down is entirely in our abilities. You can help yourself to calm down and fight against anxiety.

Good Sleep

Anxiety disrupts sleep, which leads to disrupted emotions, which then leads to more stress. The Muse Meditation device’s goal is for you to have better control over your emotions and help you wake up with less anxiety the next day.

Muse Meditation Device

When more people start to meditate, the community will begin to change. There’ll be more people who will continuously build compassion for each other, and the fear, stress, and destructive actions will reduce.

The Muse meditation device can significantly help this process. The Muse meditation device gives you real-time feedback about your mind, body, heart, and breath while meditating, helping you to understand the process and improve faster.

The Muse meditation device also comes with free SOS calm collection for specific stressful situations such as pandemic stress. It also contains free monthly challenges.

“Our specific movement was to make meditation tangible, actionable, science-based, and practical so that more people would do it. I truly believe that if everybody actually meditated and felt the real benefits of it — we would be moving towards world peace,” says Ariel Garten about her inspiration, which led to Muse meditation device’s development in her interview with Dr.Seeds.
